We started class by reciting our poems. Then we went over the agenda and homework. We also discussed how Wednesday's schedule will be a bit different because of PSATs. Today we read an example of an Autobiographical Narrative (A. N.) to show what we will write about. The example used sensory details to help the reader experience a moment out on the waves.
After that Ms. Witham handed out the Autobiographical Narrative Essay Guidelines and we discussed our thoughts about the essay and how it connects to real life. The essay should be in MLA format and we added "A. N. Brainstorm" in our table of contents.

We started off the day reciting our two poems, "We Wear the Mask by Paul Lawrence Dunbar" and "If I Can Stop One Heart from Breaking by ." Ms. Witham reminded us that our last Literature group meeting is Thrusday. Ms. Witham also asked the class to rate our substitute from Friday and left us to read on our own. After a few minutes, we came to a pausing point in our books and took out our planners. Ms. Witham began to explain todays homework and introduced us to the Make-up Work party during lunch for students who really need to work on their composition book. After the kind of brief explanation, she shows us using a example what she wants to see in our notebooks, including a illustrated cover.

Agenda
1. Poem/ Blog
2. Author's Chair
3. Finish P.E.E.L.L Paragraphs with groups
4. Lit Circle Book Perusal
Homework
Today for our daily class routine, we picked two poems to recite instead of four. We chose one old poem ( "We Real Cool" by Gwendolyn Brooks) and a new poem ("Sonnet 73" by William Shakespeare). Next we went over our daily blog which was published by Erik Goynes. Then Ms. Witham went over our homework for the night and told us to share our P.E.E.L.L. (Point, Evidence, Explanation, Language and Link) paragraphs with our table groups for about minutes. We were supposed to be finding evidence to support our P.E.E.L.L. paragraphs and write them down on our P.E.E.L.L. strategy.
Unfortunately, Ms. Witham had a lot planned for today but we spent the entire period on our paragraphs so she offered the Malala book to people who would like to work on it at home. After that Ms. Witham went over what we are going to do tomorrow. When we walk into the classroom we receive a writing prompt that will help us write our final reflection in-class essay. Then the bell rang and I published my bomb blog.

We can use ideas from our Random Autobiographies to help us decide on a significant event to write about. After that we finished our final two groups for our Reader's Theater, which is the reading and explaining of certain passages of the book I Am Malala.
Then we practiced for the first time today how to do the P.E.E.L.L. (Point, Evidence, Explanation, Language, Link) strategy, which Ms. Witham gave us ten minutes to get as far as we could on, and she gave us the option of working by ourselves or with our group. Then we turned in our R.A. (Random Autobiography) and the period was over.
